She has been singing since the age of six, but Olwyn Murray had her biggest audience yet at the weekend when she performed live at the F1 Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi.
The Ballyhaunis woman sang at the VIP Paddock Suites in the midst of stars such as Orlando Bloom, Liam and Chris Hemsworth, Chris Brown, Shania Twain and a myriad of others.
Olwyn, a former All-Ireland Talent Show finalist and Late Late Toy Show vocalist is currently living in Dubai where she performs at top venues for worldwide events. Her F1 debut was one to remember and has been met with great acclaim.
Olwyn has her own Entertainment Agency company called PALE Events which supplies top entertainment throughout the United Arab Emirates and beyond. She says her drive and passion within the music industry is still growing and bigger things are coming over the horizon.
Olwyn started getting vocal lessons with Lavinia Gilmartin in Ballina as a child. From there she was a part of Irish singing feiseanna winning numerous medals, trophies and cups.
When she hit the ripe old age of ten, Olwyn was a member of a group called ‘Spirit,’ seven girls from the Ballina area who performed throughout Mayo in concert pantos and different events.
Last weekend's was a truly memorable one for Ballyhaunis native Olwyn Murray.
Her undoubted talent brought her ever more recognition and at the age of 15 Olwyn was chosen to sing on ‘The Late Late Toy Show’ on RTE where she performed to a viewing audience in excess of one million.
In the summers of 2008 and 2009 Olwyn went to Los Angeles to perform in the ‘World Championship of Performing Arts’ where she won a total of five gold and a one silver medal for different categories in music and also got recognised by different record labels and was offered record deals.
In 2010 Olwyn entered the All Ireland Talent Show on RTE representing the West for her mentor Daithi O’Shea and her talent got her all the way to the final, while also studying for her Leaving Certificate at Ballyhaunis Community School. Olwyn then moved to the UK to study music at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). She was ugely successful there and also began writing sings which took her a new level entirely. Her performance last weekend has received rave reviews and the young woman from Ballyhaunis could be about to take the world by storm.
