A GROUP from Lahardane who are campaigning to retain GP services in the village say they are hopeful that the matter can be resolved when a meeting with the HSE takes place tomorrow.
The HSE has invited one member of the community in Lahardane, the GP who wishes to take up the vacant GP position in the village, and Leader of The Rural Ireland Organisation, local man - Gerry Loftus to attend tomorrow’s meeting
Mr Loftus told Mid West Radio news today it is hoped an agreement can be put in place as to how the position for a GP in Lahardane can be filled.
The north Mayo community have been left without a GP service since October 1 after Dr Enda Loftus who was the GP since 2020 left to take up a vacant GP position in Crossmolina.
However, a doctor has indicated that he is willing to take over the practice in Lahardane. Mr Loftus had said that this doctor is still 100 percent committed to coming on board if an arrangement can be made with the HSE.
