Prestigious award for manager of Carne Golf Links in Erris

The 26th year of the Irish golf tourism industry’s biggest prize-giving ceremony, presented as always by the Ireland Golf Tour Operator Association (IGTOA), was held in the stunningly refurbished Slieve Donard Hotel, Newcastle, Co Down last week.

At the awards, the prestigious Golf Manager of the Year award went to Fiona Togher of Carne Golf Links in Erris.

It was a night to savour for the some of the best know golf courses in Ireland with Dromoland Castle receiving the showcase of the year award for the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, Tralee Golf Course named Golf Links of the Year, the K Club Parkland Course of the year and Druids Glen named Golf resort of the year. The individual honours went to the aforementioned Fiona Togher of Carne Golf Links, who was named Golf Manger of the Year and Fiona brought an impressive crew of supporters from Mayo tocelebrate. Completing a double celebration for Kerry was Padraig Treacy of the Killarney Park Hotel, synonymous with hospitality and golf tourism, Padraig accepted the Jerry Donworth Outstanding Contribution to Golf award.

The Irish Gala Golf Awards capped off the largest annual gathering for Irish golf tourism professionals. The two-day event at The Slieve Donard Hotel and Royal County Down Golf Club included the IGTOA Business Networking Sessions and Golf Tourism Conference.
