Mayo Rose Kate Heneghan
MAYO Rose Kate Heneghan will take to the stage this evening (Monday) as part of the first round of interviews for the International Rose of Tralee Festival.
The Castlebar native is one of 32 Roses who will be interviewed by veteran host Daithí Ó Sé and Rose of Tralee newcomer Kathryn Thomas over the next two nights.
The second round of interviews takes place tomorrow evening, after which the 2023 Rose of Tralee will be crowned.
Kate is currently among the favourites to become the first Mayo woman to take the tiara since Fine Gael MEP Maria Walsh won the internationally-renowned competition in 2014.
Hailing from a well-known musical family, Kate has previously cited 2005 Rose of Tralee Aoibheann Ní Shuilleabháin as an inspiration.
Kate - who is no stranger to the stage - will be performing an original harp composition 'Bealtaine', for her party piece at the event, which takes place in Kerry Sports Academy at the Munster Technological University (MTU)
Coverage of the 2023 Rose of Tralee can be watched live on RTÉ 1 and the RTÉ Player from 8.00pm this evening (Monday) and tomorrow evening, Tuesday August 22.
