Gardaí on Achill Island are investigating the discovery of a man's body close to a renowned beauty spot on the island. The discovery of the body was made by a walker close to Corrymore Lake near Keem Bay at approximately 7.30am this morning.
Gardaí are currently carrying out investigations into the identity of the man who is believed to be in his 40s. Early lines of enquiry suggest he may be a man who was reported missing by his family in Northern Ireland in recent days.
Emergency services are currently at the scene and gardaí are preparing for the body to be removed to Mayo University Hospital for a post mortem. Investigations are ongoing.
