Mayo Roscommon Hospice to benefit from Achill Marathon
ONE of the main beneficiaries of this year’s Achill Half-Marathon will be the Mayo Roscommon Hospice which provides specialist Palliative Care services in the region. The Achill Half-Marathon takes place on Saturday, July 3 and 2,000 runners of all abilities will be taking part in the race which takes in some of the most spectacular settings in Ireland. “We get a number of applications from charities looking to be part of the event and we feel that the Mayo Roscommon Hospice have a broad appeal for a lot of people. They help so many people and their name comes up time to time again as a charity to work with. At the end of the day we feel that a lot of people will appreciate that they are taking part in a race which helps such a worthy charity. We hope we can help and raise as much as we can for them,” Helen Applegarth of Achill Tourism said. “Mayo Roscommon Hospice are a great charity to be involved with and providing the playing cards was a nice thing to do. We didn’t know they would do this and I think the runners will appreciate the effort which has been put in.”
