Gardaí arrested a man following an assault on another man in Ballinrobe in the early hours of Friday morning. A row broke out between the two men, who are believed to be from the area, at approximately 3.30am, on High Street in the town. One man sustained head injuries and was taken to hospital. The other man was arrested and the street was cordoned off for a time on Friday morning for Garda technical investigations. Anyone with any information should contact Claremorris Garda Station on 094 9371222. Meanwhile a young male adult was the victim of a daylight attack last Friday evening on the new Railway Walk in Westport developed by the town council. Between 5.30pm and 6pm he was set upon by two males and received facial injuries. Gardaí have interviewed a number of people in relation to the event but anyone with any information should contact Westport Garda Station on 098 25555.
