A Ballyhaunis family enjoyed the All-Ireland final in style after winning a competition sponsored by food company Denny.
Home is where the heart is for Ballyhaunis family
Michael Commins
ALL Ireland Football Final Day 2009 will long live in the memory of the Kelly family from near Ballyhaunis. They were the guests of food company Denny after winning a special radio promotion by the company on 2FM. For Trevor and his wife Natasha and children Oisin (6) and Tadhg (15 months), this was a very special occasion. They watched the All Ireland finals in style at a Denny ‘home from home’ in Dorset Street close to Croke Park. Sharing their company were former football All Star legends Larry Tompkins from Cork and Johnny Crowley from Kerry in a home that Denny specially created to look like there own. And there were Mayo, Cork and Kerry flags galore. Trevor won the prize by entering a competition on 2FM, telling the nation what home means to him. To Trevor home “is the smile on my face as I come home from work thinking about my wonderful family who’ll be waiting for me”. “It was a great surprise when we were announced as winners on the Rick O’Shea show on 2FM. We moved here from London around three years ago. My father is from Galway and my mother from Kerry so we were supporting Kerry in the senior and Mayo in the minor. Natasha is from Mervue in Galway and Oisin is now going to school in Gorthaganny. “We are big into sport and had a lovely time in Dublin. The Denny company looked after us very well. It was great to meet Larry and Johnny and they were so pleasant to us and added greatly to the atmosphere of the occasion. We stayed overnight in the Fitzwilliam Hotel and Denny also provided us with a taxi back home to Ballyhaunis on Monday. They were really great,” said Trevor. The Denny company is inviting the whole country to share what home means to them, and some of the most interesting stories will be used in their 2010 ad campaign with each entry resulting in a donation to Simon Community. “Home is important to Denny”, said Tricia Burke, marketing manager of Denny. “We want to know what home means to the nation, so we are inviting everyone to share their thoughts with us. “We want to make the public part of our story, by showcasing real homes from what you think is important in our TV adverts next year, and by simply sharing your ideas with us we will make a donation on your behalf to Simon.” If you want to invite Denny’s camera into your home, call them on 1850 887 000 (ROI) or 0844 544 3545. Denny is donating €1 to Simon Community for every text entry and for every upload to homeis.ie.
