THERE was good news on the jobs front for the county town yesterday (Monday) as one of the best-known fast food outlets in the country, Domino’s Pizza, announced that it will be creating 25 full- and part-time positions at its new premises on Spencer Street.
John McManus is the franchisee of the new business and he is now on the hunt for trainee managers, pizza makers, customer service representatives and delivery experts.
“In light of the recent building surge and population increase in Castlebar, the latest Domino’s Pizza branch is a welcome amenity to the area,” said Mr McManus, who added that he hoped to be able to employ people who live in the community that Domino’s will be serving in Castlebar.
“First and foremost, I’ll be looking for people who can deliver great customer service and demonstrate strong teamwork skills, as well as boundless enthusiasm. It’s also vital to be able to maintain a sense of fun while working under pressure.”
Domino’s now has 39 stores nationwide and over 600 employees. The new store opens on April 13 and Mayor of Castlebar, Cllr Kevin Guthrie, said he was delighted to hear that 25 jobs would be created at a time when so many people were looking for work.
“I’d like to wish Mr McManus and his staff the best of luck. It’s great to see new businesses open during these economic times and I am delighted that there is another business opening on Spencer Street, which is enjoying a boom of late. Businessman Pat Moran has invested heavily in the street and it remains one of the best streets in the town to do business on.”
The Mayor went on to say that Castlebar remains a hugely vibrant town and it remained an attractive location for a lot of the major retail companies, with the well-known Halfords chain due to open a store in the Moneen Industrial Estate this Friday.
