THE Mayo GAA Board are ‘actively pursuing’ a company to purchase the naming rights for the redeveloped McHale Park in Castlebar.
Speaking to The Mayo News last week, County Secretary, Seán Feeney (pictured) confirmed that board officers were ‘not ruling anybody in or out’ in relation to the naming rights of either the stand or the stadium as they seek to raise money to help fund the €16m redevelopment of the county grounds.
“We did a lot of research into what other counties had done to raise money, naming rights, and the selling of seats,” he explained.
“We have an open mind on it because we could get naming rights on the stand, and you could also get naming rights on the park. We’re actively pursuing that at the moment. We have an open mind on it.
“In an ideal world, we’d like to have a Mayo company’s name on the stadium but that may not be possible.”
