Westival, Westport’s annual celebration of music and arts, has been nominated for two major Irish Festival Awards – Best Small Festival and Best Festival Line Up – for their 2019 festival. The awards are decided by public vote, and the Westival organisers are hoping that everyone will take a few seconds to go online and cast their votes to show their support.
Another festival, the hugely popular annual Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival, has also been nominated for two categories in the Irish Festival Awards – seems like Westport is spoilt for choice!
To vote, visit www.irishfestivalawards.ie – everyone who votes is in with a chance to win tickets to the winning festivals. Voting closes tomorrow, Friday, January 31, and the winners will be announced in early February.
The Irish Festival Awards is an annual celebration of Ireland’s greatest festivals. It’s a time to reflect and commend all of the exceptional work that goes on behind the scenes in our inspiring festival industry. This is your chance to see Westival win and to celebrate the countless amounts of work and huge audience participation that made it such a super week of events.
“We are over the moon to get nominated in The Irish Festival Awards for Best Small Festival and Line Up for 2019,” Westival director Conor Wilson told The Mayo News. “It’s testament to the hard work and heart that all of our artists and crew put into the festival. It’s an exciting time of growth for Westival, and we look forward to celebrating the rich arts scene in Westport all over again this October Bank Holiday.”
Westival is also up for an All Ireland Community & Council Award in the Best Arts/Culture category. These awards, which take place in Croke Park on February 15, recognise communities and councils working together, bringing national recognition to projects and developments that may otherwise go unrecognised.
