Varadkar to visit Mayo on Friday

Taoiseach to officially open new runway at Ireland West Airport Knock, with stop-offs at Ballina and Castlebar also planned

Senator Michelle Mulherin has confirmed that An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, TD, has accepted her invitation to come to Mayo on Friday next, September 20, when he will visit Ballina, Knock and Castlebar.
Senator Mulherin said: “I am delighted to have been in a position to work with local companies and Mayo County Council to arrange a number of official functions to be attended by An Taoiseach, all which are positive news for the economic and social growth of Mayo.
“The Taoiseach will come to Ballina for a site visit to the Military Barracks and report progress on the development of the €7 million Digital and Innovation hub under the Project Ireland 2040 Urban Regeneration and Development Fund.
“He will officially open the €11.2 million newly overlaid runway at Ireland West Airport Knock. He will also officially open the new second building at Fort Wayne Metals, Castlebar, which provides an additional 48,000 square feet for the company which has grown from 16 employees in 2005 to 96 employees and is supported by the IDA.”
