FOOTBALL The East Mayo club have come up with a novel fundraising idea this month

Michael Commins

THE spirit of Christmas will come early to Carty’s Pub in Knock this year ...all of three months early!
The place will be festooned with Christmas decorations, jingle bells and Christmas songs will be in the air, and all this takes place on Saturday night, September 28.
The occasion is a special fund-raiser for Aghamore GAA Club as they embark on the latest phase of development work at the clubhouse in Aghamore. Ideas for something different were mooted in relation to raising funds and the Christmas venture got the nod.
Club members are already warming to the idea and tickets are on sale at €10 for entry to the “Christmas Party” night which will feature mulled wine, Christmas Crackers, plenty of music and they will even have a Celebrity Santa to share in the celebrations.
The club has also arranged for a bus to do pick-ups in Kilkelly and Aghamore with the nominal charge of just €2 each way. Further details in relation to this will be made known in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Aghamore GAA Club is hoping that their novel venture will attract a full-house to the party night in Carty’s of Knock. Whatever the weather, tet us hope the snow keeps away!
