Gardaí investigating attempted arson of Ballyvary farmhouse

GARDAÍ in Castlebar are investigating an attempt to burn down a farmhouse near Ballyvary and the arson of two vehicles on the same property.
The incident took place on New Year’s Eve at Carnacross, Ballyvary.  Two vehicles on the property were also set on fire.
While the Fire Service was able to extinguish the fire in the house before it caused substantial damage to the building, the two vehicles – a Volkswagen Bora car and a Toyota Landcruiser – were destroyed.
The Fire Service was alerted to the fire at approximately 7.30pm on New Year’s Eve.  
An Garda SíochΡna were alerted after the fire was extinguished.
The property was vacant at the time of the incident and no one was injured.
The farmhouse is located along the N5 on the Bohola side of Ballyvary and gardaí investigating the incident are seeking the assistance of the public.
