A CLAREMORRIS garda is being hailed as a hero after diving in to the Garravogue River at Hyde Bridge in Sligo last week and rescuing a man from the water.
Garda Stephen Fahy (27), who has been stationed in Sligo for the last two years, was on patrol in the town when he noticed the fully clothed man jump into the fast flowing river.
