Swinford and Claremorris get €7m under Local Authority Housing Construction Programme and Rebuilding Ireland scheme

THE towns of Swinford and Claremorris have been allocated a provisional budget of €6,980,597 under the Local Authority Housing Construction Programme and the Rebuilding Ireland scheme.
Michael Ring, Minister for Rural and Community Development, welcomed the announcement which he said will facilitate the construction of 38 new homes for Claremorris and Swinford.
The Claremorris development is ear-marked for council property at Bothar Dubh (Boherduff, Knock Road) while the 26 new social homes in Swinford will be built on a site at Kilkelly Road.
“I am delighted with this significant funding announcement which will result in thirty-eight new Social Homes in total for Swinford and Claremorris. Twelve new social homes (4 x 3 bed houses and 8 x 2 bed houses) have been approved for Claremorris. The budget approval for these houses is €2,140,139.
“Twenty-six new social homes have been approved at Kilkelly Road, Swinford (14 x 2 bed houses, 10 x 3 bed houses and 2 x 4 bed houses). The budget approval for these houses is €4,840,458.
“This substantial housing announcement will greatly increase the housing stock in the Swinford and Claremorris areas,” stated Minister Ring.
