The multi-award winning food producers of ‘Clew Bay Cookies’ are set to appear on the popular RTÉ programme Ear to the Ground.
The Louisburgh based baking firm, whose story was told in The Mayo News recently, will make their TV debut on December 15 and the show will highlight the incredible success story of Lisa and James McCann, founders of Clew Bay Cookies, and their sons Joseph (13) and Kevin (12) since they moved from Michigan, USA to the West of Ireland.
Lisa and James recently won Gold in the ‘Sweet Biscuit and Snack Category’ at the Blas na hÉireann Irish Food Awards that took place in Dingle - the largest competition for quality Irish produce on the Island - for their artisan chocolate chip cookies and also the top prize at ‘A Taste of Donegal Food Festival’.
Lisa McCann of Clew Bay Cookies admitted to being equally as surprised as she was ecstatic to get national recognition for their business and said that it was a proud day for the small home based bakery.
“We were shocked actually when we got the call because we didn’t know how they heard about us, but they told us that they follow The Mayo News and saw our story,” she said last week.
“We are absolutely delighted to be on RTÉ and to have the kids on it too because it really is a family business. It is putting a fabulous end to the year for us at Clew Bay Cookies and for RTÉ’s Ear to the Ground to recognise a small business from Louisburgh in the west of Ireland, it really is wonderful for home based businesses.”
The show will delve into this new venture that began when husband and wife, Lisa (originally from Limavaddy, Derry) and James (originally from Michigan, USA), moved to Louisburgh from the US to raise their two kids. It was from there that they baked their family recipe chocolate chip cookies for their son’s tenth birthday to be shared with his friends at Louisburgh GAA pitch one Saturday morning.
And after they proved to be hugely popular, the couple then decided to form ‘Clew Bay Cookies.’
You can purchase their delicious product in selected shops and café’s in towns such as Westport, Ballinrobe, Sligo and Galway.
MORE RTÉ’s Ear to the Ground featuring Clew Bay Cookies will air on Thursday December, 15 at 8.30pm.
