A jeep was driven through the doors of a filling station in Headford last week in an unsuccessful robbery
IN what looked like an outtake from a Hollywood film, a jeep was reversed into the doors of Monaghan’s filling station in Headford last week.
The thieves reversed a dark coloured jeep through the glass doors of the shop in the early hours of Tuesday morning last. The Centra shop and filling station is located on the main Galway road. The incident is thought to have occurred between 2am and 4.30am and the vehicle used in the crime was stolen in the Tuam area on Monday night.
The thieves failed in their attempts to obtain cash or goods from the shop and it is believed attempts were made to remove the store’s ATM. The criminals left the area via another vehicle. Meanwhile, Keady’s Drycleaners and Launderette in River Oaks, Claregalway was broken into at approximately 6am on Tuesday morning last.
Gardaí are urging anyone with information in relation to the Headford incident to contact Tuam Garda Station on 093 70840.
