Ireland West Airport Knock has partnered with Tourism Ireland and airline Flybe to promote flights to Mayo from the UK. The campaign will highlight the airport as the central gateway to for the Wild Atlantic Way.
Flybe flies from Knock Airport to Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh, and the campaign will run in Britain during August and September with the aim of to pushing tourists towards the west of Ireland.
This campaign, costed at almost €250,000, is just one element of an extensive promotional programme aimed at boosting travel to the West of Ireland from Great Britain during 2016 and 2017. It will run across press, online and social media channels and includes online coverage in the Daily Record in Scotland, the Birmingham Mail and the Manchester Evening News.
IWAK’s managing director Joe Gilmore said the campaign, which highlights some of the attractions and activities available for tourists, will be ‘fantastic exposure for all the counties in our region’.
The most recent CSO figures for January to June showed a 16 percent increase in the number of visitors from Britain to Ireland.
