Fitting date to celebrate Mayo’s Most Inspirational Woman

Mayo Rape Crisis Centre’s Most Inspirational Mayo Woman will be announced on Nollaig na mBan, January 6

Mayo Rape Crisis Centre’s Most Inspirational Mayo Woman will be announced at a glitzy fundraising event in the Breaffy House Resort on Nollaig na mBan, January 6. The woman, who must reside or have been born in Mayo, will have made an outstanding impact on their family, friends or a community.
Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural fundraising event, the intention is for party-goers to have as much fun as before whilst raising valuable funds for MRCC’s Outreach and Development Fund. This will allow the centre to extend its services to even more vulnerable people in County Mayo who have experienced the trauma of sexual violence in their life.
Special guest speaker will be the talented New York Times best-seller, Kilalla-based Kate Kerrigan, whose books include ‘Recipes for a Perfect Marriage’, ‘The Miracle of Grace’, ‘Ellis Island’, ‘City of Hope’, ‘Land of Dreams’ and ‘The Dress’. She also writes for The Irish Mail.
Last year’s Mayo’s Most Inspirational Woman, Martina Jennings, was honoured for her tireless dedication and outstanding work for cystic fibrosis, will be hosting the event which promises to be yet again, an evening of fun, culture and sophistication.
During the mulled wine reception at Breaffy House, the classically trained Mayo pianist, Rebecca Cresham of Rebecca Cresham Music School, will entertain guests. During dinner, the talented traditional musician Eadaoin Ni Mhaicin, Mayo Young person of the year 2015, will also provide first-class entertainment.
Later in the evening there will be dancing to the disco sounds of DJ Sandra Concannon as well as the chance to take part in a fun quiz and win some very impressive spot prizes.
“We are fortunate to have a huge number of people supporting the MRCC to make Nollaig na mBan a success,” explains Loretta McDonagh, MRCC Acting Director of Services. “The inspiration for the Inspirational Woman Award came from the many, many women over the years who came through the doors of the Mayo Rape Crisis Centre scared and vulnerable and in need of help.”
Tickets for the event, €40 each, are available from Breaffy House Resort Hotel, committee members and Yvonne Kilcullen Events on 087 177 0478, or by emailing Nollaignambanmayo@gmail.com. Donations can be made to Mayo Rape Crisis Centre at bank account: 10365561, sort code 98-54-20.
