The search for a missing Ballycastle woman who disappeared over a week ago continues with no new developments in the search.
The 60 year old was reported missing on Friday, October 9 last after her car was discovered at Downpatrick Head carpark. An extensive search co-ordinated by the Killala gardaí and assisted by the Coastguard, other voluntary organisations and members of the public took place over the past week but so far without any success.
The woman’s car, a blue Nissan Micra was discovered in the carpark at Downpatrick Head late on Friday afternoon last.
Farmers and landowners are asked to check their lands and outbuildings, especially along the coast line, and members of the public are asked not to approach cliff areas.
A search of the coastline has been conducted by the Coastguard, GrΡinne Uaile sub-aqua unit and the Mayo Civil Defencewhile a number of locals have also joined the search.
Volunteers thanked
Superintendent Joe Doherty thanked the voluntary rescue teams and the public for their assistance in the search.
Supt Doherty said they will continue to search the area for the next week and will review the situation at the end of the week to decide how to proceed with the search.
Any members of the public who would like to volunteer in the search are asked to notify Garda prior to any organised searches. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ballina Garda Station on 096 20550.
