Minister of State Michael Ring performed the official opening of the redevelopment of a children’s playground in Claremorris

The laughter of children rang out on a beautiful day in Claremorris on Friday last. The joyous occasion was the official opening of the redevelopment of the Children’s Playground at Mayfield, Ballinrobe Road, Claremorris.
Deputy Michael Ring, TD, Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport was on hand to perform the official Opening.
Also present were Deputy John O’Mahony, TD; councillors Tom Connolly, Richard Finn and Mr Paddy Mahon, Director of Services, Mayo County Council.  
Minister Ring complimented Mr Peter Gill, Parks Superintendent, Mayo County Council for his input into the redevelopment of the Playground.
“This is one of the finest towns in the county. It has great facilities such as the Regional Athletic Track, the Swimming Pool, the GAA grounds, soccer grounds and much more,” he stated.
Deputy Ring referred to the work of Mr Paddy Mahon, Director of Services, and local Mayo County Council Engineer, Mr Michael Sweeney, and Dennis Connor and he complimented the local councillors past and present for their hard work over the years for the town. He said that he was delighted to be in a position to help with the funding of the redevelopment.
Mr Paddy Mahon said this was a very important extension so close to Clare Lake/McMahon Park. He thanked his fellow council staff of Peter Gill, Padraic Flanagan, Michael Sweeney? and others for their hard work in bringing it to fruition. He complimented Minister Ring for his recent announcement of a €40,000 grant for improvements in McMahon Park.
Mr Peter Gill also spoke and said the playground was unique, and spoke of the use it gets.
He complimented Minister Ring for securing the funding for it and for the tarmacadam of the adjacent car park earlier in the year.
