A lottery ticket worth €2.9million was left unclaimed last week after the deadline for collection passed.
Claremorris lottery ticket goes unclaimed

TIME ran out for one unlucky would-be millionaire on Friday, when the deadline to claim a €2.9 million jackpot lapsed.
The ticket, which was purchased in Tesco in Claremorris on November 29, was rendered useless at the close of business on Friday last, leaving one person/syndicate either oblivious, or frustrated.
This is only the twelfth time a jackpot has gone unclaimed and is the first time a Mayo jackpot has gone unclaimed. The €2.9million jackpot is the second largest figure to have gone unclaimed since the National Lottery was established in 1988.
The unclaimed lottery ticket was bought on the day of the jackpot and mystery still surrounds the identity of the ticket holder. The weekend the ticket was bought there was a Mike Denver concert in the McWilliam hotel leading many locals to suspect the ticket was bought by a visitor to the town.
