Ballycroy singer makes it to live finals

TALENTED Ballycroy singer Nicola Lynch has beaten off stiff competition to make it through to the live shows stage of The Voice of Ireland.
The 19 year old successfully competed against Belfast contestant Rachel Murphy in the battle stages on Sunday’s episode. The pair sang Katy Perry song ‘Roar’ and in the end mentor Una picked Nicola.
To prepare for the next battles, the coaches and their teams are off to Castle Bellingham in Co Louth to spend two days rehearsing and getting to grips with the songs their coaches have chosen for them. Speaking to The Mayo News about the show, Nicola said she is ‘delighted’ she got through and didn’t expect it. “Rachel is a lot stronger than me vocally. I’m like a mouse compared to her, but I think I got through because of my confidence on stage,” said Nicola.
Now she is hard at work travelling to rehearsals in Dublin practising for the live shows, which start on March 22 next.
“I’m up to Dublin for rehearsals, trying to break down songs to get ones that suit me. There’s a bit of pressure with travelling there and with work, but my boss has been so good and he is supporting me,” she explained.
The Voice of Ireland airs on RTÉ 1 every Sunday evening at 6.30pm.
