FOOTBALL Castlebar Mitchels’ All-Ireland club championship semi-final against Dr Crokes will take place on February 15.
Date set for big Castlebar clash
SATURDAY, February 15 next has been confirmed as the date for Castlebar Mitchels’ All-Ireland senior club championship semi-final against Dr Crokes of Killarney.
Fixture-makers at Croke Park have fixed the date for the clash of the Mayo and Connacht club champions and the Kerry and Munster representatives, but added that a definite venue won’t be announced until next month.
However, Cusack Park, Ennis and the Gaelic Grounds, Limerick are believed to be the front-runners to host the last four showdown.
Most bookmakers have priced Castlebar Mitchels at 9/4 to beat Colm Cooper’s Dr Croke’s. The Killarney outfit are 4/9 favourites to advance to their second All-Ireland Club Final.
The Kerry champions lost the 2007 decider to Crossmaglen Rangers after a replay.
Meanwhile, Mayo Intermediate champions Kiltane have been installed as warm favourites to beat Clyda Rovers from Cork in their All-Ireland club semi-final in the New Year.
The North Mayo side are 4/6 to overcome the Munster champions on Saturday, January 25 at a venue to be decided. Again, Ennis or Limerick would seem likely locations for the tie.
