A FILM about drink awareness, by Westport student, Claire Cunningham, has been shortlisted for a prestigious award. Her film, ‘Pace and Control On and Off the Pitch’ is among the top ten films selected for the final of the 2013 DARE2BDRINKAWARE.ie film competition, organised by the alcohol social responsibility organisation drinkaware.ie.
Now in its sixth year, DARE2BDRINKAWARE.ie challenges third-level students to creatively explore Irish people’s relationship to drinking through producing short films. The theme for the 2013 competition is ‘pacing our drinking’.
The drinkaware.ie programme promotes responsible drinking and challenges anti-social behaviour related to excessive drinking. Partnerships with a broad range of bodies, both public and private, have enabled expansion of the initiative. In excess of €20m has been invested in the programme to date.
Claire Cunningham, along with fellow students at the Dublin Institute of Technology’s Film and Broadcasting course established Wolfpack Productions to make their short film. It depicts the consequences that not pacing one’s drink has on both a team and individuals on a team.
The public has now been invited to vote for the overall winner.
