Louisburgh crash victim to be laid to rest


Alan Durkan, who was killed tragically in a road traffic accident in South Australia on March 2, will be buried in his native Louisburgh this week.
Alan’s body arrived back in Ireland yesterday (Monday). He will be reposing at the family home today, March 12, from 2pm until 10pm, and tomorrow from 10am with removal at 6.30pm to St Patrick’s Church, Louisburgh. Mass of the Resurrection will take place on Thursday at 12 noon, followed by burial in Kilgeever Cemetery.
Twenty-two-year-old Alan had spent most of 2012 in Australia before returning home last Christmas for a visit and leaving again for Australia in January. News of the untimely death of a much-loved young member of the west Mayo community has left the Lousiburgh and surrounding areas stunned.
Alan is survived by his parents, Andy and Janet, twin brother, James, and a wide circle of family, relatives and friends.
