New sun destinations ‘a significant boost’ for Knock airport

Ireland West Airport Knock recently gained two new routes to sunny climes. Ryanair announced last week that it would be flying a new Knock-to-Malaga route, while Sunway recently announced plans to operate a new charter flight series to Palma-Majorca, starting on June 14, 2013.
The flights to Palma-Majorca will operate on a weekly basis, every Friday until the September 13, 2013. Sunway has been running a Knock-to-Lanzarote route for the last three years.
Speaking about Sunway’s new route, Mr Joe Gilmore, Managing Director of the airport  described it as ‘a significant boost for the airport’: “The addition of a new service to Palma-Majorca is indeed a vote of confidence in Ireland West Knock and our region. We are confident that the Palma-Majorca programme will be well received by the public and we look forward to working with the Sunway team in the forthcoming season and wish them every success in their new venture at the Airport,” said Mr Gilmore.
The Ryanair route to Malaga in Spain’s Costa Del Sol will commence on April 4, 2013, and will operate on a weekly basis every Thursday throughout the summer season, with fares starting from €55 one way.
Malaga is Ryanair’s sixth sun destination from Ireland West Knock. It also operates flights from knock to Alicante, Faro-Algarve, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife.
