Kerry legend PΡidi Ó Sé flies Mayo banner in Claremorris!

KERRY football legend PΡidi Ó Sé is flying the flag for Mayo! The famous Ventry man got a warm welcome when he dropped into PJ Byrne’s Bar in Claremorris last week.  He joined proprietors Dick and Dolly and patrons as he reflected on the novel All Ireland Final that is now just a few days away.
“We all got a bit of a land when in walked PΡidi. You couldn’t miss him. He is unique,” said Dick Byrne. “He was here before too. There’s a connection with my late father’s mother who came from the Blasket Islands off Kerry. PΡidi is aware of that connection.
“PΡidi is a native Irish speaker so we got in touch with Colman O Raghallaigh and was down in a few minutes. The two of them were bantering away about the match for a while. ‘Tickeen’ Higgins was delighted to meet PΡidi and they had some craic over a pint or two in the bar, chatting about football and former times.”
Dolores was very pleased that PΡidi took time out to visit her mother, Chris Conroy, who hails from Co Clare and who has been involved with Comhaltas in Claremorris for many years. “They had a great chat, he is so natural with people. They got on mighty!”
And how does PΡidi feel about the big game on the 23rd? “He told us he thinks Mayo will do it this time,” said Dick Byrne. “After all the setbacks he said he believes it will be our turn to finally bridge that gap going back to 1951 ..especially since we don’t have to face Kerry again!”
