Coyle fight a big hit for Irish TV


From Belmullet to Belfast and Edinburgh to Essex, thousands of viewers tuned in to Irish TV to watch world champion boxer and Geesala native Henry Coyle retain his WBF Light Middleweight World Title against the plucky Argentinian fighter Marcelo Rodriguez in a packed arena at the Royal Theatre in Castlebar on Friday night.
In their first live broadcast on terrestrial television Mayo TV, run by Westport broadcaster Pierce O’Reilly, captured all the punches and passion present at the WBF Light Middleweight World Title fight which saw the Mayo boxer retain his world title in front of his home crowd. Thousands of fans around Ireland and across the globe tuned in to SKY TV Channel 191/Freesat 403 and online on www.irishtv.ie and www.mayotv.ie.
The live broadcast featured highlights from many of the undercard games, as well as expert analysis from Olympic Silver medallist Kenny Egan, former world champion boxer Bernard Dunne and former Olympic coach Nicolas Cruz.

This Thursday, August 23 on SKY 191/Freesat 403 will feature a highlights programme from the boxing including unseen footage and post-fight reaction as well as a trip to Coyle’s native village of Geesala to sample the reaction and excitement there.
