Speculation that Frank Lampard and Christine Bleakley will marry in Mayo has grown as Ashford Castle refuse to comment.
Lampard wedding for Mayo?
Edwin McGreal
Speculation is growing that Mayo could play host to one of the celebrity weddings of the year - that of English footballer Frank Lampard and TV star Christine Bleakley (pictured). There have been repeated rumours around the county since before Christmas that the wedding reception of the famous pair will take place in Ashford Castle in Cong. And when The Mayo News contacted the hotel for comment, they refused to deny it. “We really couldn’t comment either way. That is all I can say,” said a tight-lipped Ashford Hotel Manager, Catherine Kenny. Ms Bleakley, who is from Antrim, has expressed her wish to marry in Ireland and Ashford Castle, Adare Manor and Leitrim’s Kilronan Castle are among the venues that have been linked with the reception in the past few months but no details have been confirmed. A story has also been circulating locally in Mayo that one couple from the west of the county who were due to marry in Ashford Castle this summer have been offered handsome sums of money in order to avoid a clash withthe Lampard-Bleakley wedding at the picturesque castle on the shores of Lough Corrib. It is, as yet, unclear where the wedding ceremony itself will take place.
