Fergie travels west to launch Manchester flights

MANCHESTER United boss Sir Alex Ferguson took time out of his busy Premier League schedule to travel to Mayo to officially launch the new service from Ireland West Airport Knock to Manchester.
The United supremo launched the new service on Sunday which will be operated by Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, that will operate year round with flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays for the winter season with additional frequencies planned for the summer season.
This new service also opens up access to major International routes on the Flybe network with passengers now able to book onward flights to Europe’s most popular tourist destination Paris which will now be easily bookable through Manchester from Ireland West Knock.
Joe Gilmore, Managing Director, Ireland West Airport Knock thanked Sir Alex for launching the new service and was particularly delighted with the onward connectivity to Paris.
“The uninterrupted continuation of our Manchester service will come as welcome news to the thousands of people who use this service for visiting friends and relatives, travelling to football matches and also those who use it for business purposes. We are particularly delighted that this service offers for the first time onward connectivity to Paris, Europes biggest tourist destination,” he said.
Andrew Strong, Flybe UK’s Managing Director said they were looking forward to carrying many thousands of business and leisure passengers between these two destinations.
