The last of the Leaving Cert exams took place last Friday – Japanese, Italian and Technology. John Daly was the last student to emerge from the technology exam at St Gerald’s, Castlebar, on Friday. Peering through his set square, Daly said he thought he had done well in the exams and was now looking forward to some well-deserved recreational time before embarking on his preferred third-level course, physiotherapy. The relieved student said he was pleased the exams were finally over, adding, “It’s been a long wait.” Other students from St Gerald’s to emerge blinking into the daylight included Martin Rogen, Jonathan Lowe, Séan King and Damien McHale. Martin Rogen said, “It was difficult enough but I still think I passed them all. I think I’ve done enough to get my course in college for next year so I’m happy enough.” Jonathan Lowe said, “Question three was a bit more difficult than I expected. Prototyping and control systems were also tough enough, but I still think I passed them all. I’m hoping to study freshwater and marine biology in GMIT and I’m confident enough I should get it.” SeΡn King was looking forward to joining the many students already recuperating after an anxious couple of weeks. “Thank God it’s all over. It’ll be great to relax and go out after all these weeks of study. I’m hoping to go to GMIT next year and study mechanical engineering.
