Ten days on and Mayo’s mysterious new millionaire has yet to step forward to claim their winnings
Mystery millionaire still unknown

WE have all put things off until the eleventh hour. But, if you had just won a whopping €2 million with an  €8 National Lottery ticket bought in McLoughlin’s Newsagents, Westport, would you wait until the 90th day to claim the prize.
Last weekend’s Dublin winners certainly didn’t. They were in the National Lottery offices popping that bottle of bubbly, and collecting a cool €2.6 million, before staff had time to wipe the sleep from their eyes yesterday morning (Monday).
Ten days on and there is no sign yet of Mayo’s new mysterious millionaire crossing the Shannon.
Maybe there is turf to be footed or hay to be saved.
Of course, the bush telegraph is agog with rumours about the identity of the lucky winner. One cool customer, in the opinion of The Mayo News.
No rush. Apparently some recipients wait right up until, the last week, even the last day. Day 90.
That means carrying the prize-winning ticket around for three months.
What if the numbers wear away… It is not worth thinking about it.
