Fianna Fáil TD Dara Calleary has been elected for the fifth time while fellow incumbent Fine Gael TD Alan Dillon has also been returned.
The Ballina-based TD who was first elected to Dáíl Éireann in 2007 was elected on the eight count after receiving 3,398 votes following the distribution of his party colleague, Lisa Chambers vote. The transfers were enough to take him over the quota of 11,812 with a surplus of 1,285.
Castlebar-based former Mayo footballer, Alan Dillon was reelected on the same count after he received 1,551 of Chambers's transfers to give him a total of 13,174.
The results of the eight count means that Westport based Fine Gael candidate Keira Keogh moves onto 8,150 while Aontú's Paul Lawless is on 7,910. This pushes him 404 votes ahead of Independent Patsy O'Brien who has a 397 lead over Fine Gael candidate Mark Duffy.
Dillon's surplus of 1,360 votes which is currently being distributed will not elect anyone on the next count but Duffy will need 397 more votes than Patsy O'Brien to avoid elimination.
