Minister of State Alan Dillon looks set to top the poll in Mayo.
With the retirement of the huge vote-getter that was Michael Ring, it was left to Junior Minister Alan Dillon to 'captain' an inexperienced Fine Gael in Mayo. But it looks like he is going to deliver in spades as the Castlebar tally has revealed he is way out in front on 38 percent, looking likely to top the poll in Mayo and possibly reach the quota on the first count. He has left his Fianna Fail Castlebar rival Lisa Chambers trailing in his wake, with the tally showing Chambers back on just 14 percent. Rose Conway-Walsh received 19 percent of the Castlebar vote back in 2020 but she has fallen back to 13 percent according to the tally. Independent Stephen Kerr was expected to do well in his hometown and he is showing up in the tally on 7 percent, with Aontu's Paul Lawless next in the tally on 5 percent.
