The 16 Mayo candidates: Profiles on all General Election contestants

ELECTION CHANCES: The Ballina native took the opposite route to Patsy O'Brien by starting off as an Independent before accepting the charms of Fine Gael to declare for them in this General Election. Duffy already had a solid base behind him before joining Fine Gael and is primed to take advantage of the extra seat available in Mayo this time around. He topped the poll in Ballina in the local elections in June and if the Fine Gael faithful back him, there could be enough votes in the north Mayo region to push him over the line.
