The 16 Mayo candidates: Profiles on all General Election contestants

OCCUPATION: Teacher
ELECTION CHANCES: Lawless has had to be patient after running unsuccessfully in both a local and General Election, but he won a seat on Mayo County Council in June's local elections. Lawless received 2,574 votes in the 2020 election, and was eliminated on count four with a total of 3,375 votes. He could again increase his vote and although he probably won't win a seat, he transfers will go a long way to deciding who takes the final two seats. Lawless is only 32 years of age but is ambitious so he will see this campaign as another stepping stone in his political career.
