Dillon hopeful of progress on Castlebar IDA building

Minister Dillon said a suitable site for the new IDA building has been identified off the new N5 road.

A new IDA building in Castlebar took a step forward this week with a suitable site identified off the new N5 road, according to Minister of State, Alan Dillon, TD.
Minister Dillon has urged the IDA to progress this development to planning following site selection and acquisition for the new Advanced Building Solution.
This new building will be similar to the premises occupied by Meissner Filtration on the Breaffy Road and is one of 19 facilities across six regions in 16 locations planned as part of a key strategic objective under the IDA’s ‘Driving Recovery and Sustainable Growth 2021 – 2024’
Minister Dillon said: “Over the past three years, I have met with leading officials in the IDA’s property unit, along with officials of Mayo County Council and stressed the importance of this project to attract investment and job creation in Mayo.”
Minister Dillon said: “While the site selection process has taken some time, I am confident that this will soon be resolved, and the project can then progress to the planning and construction phase.
“I have consistently called on the IDA and the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to speed up this process to ensure that this project for Mayo moves forward for this strategically important building. This facility will act as a catalyst for future investment into the county and I am determined to ensure its delivery as quickly as possible.”
