Kilmeena's killer didn't have much of an impact in general play before the changing of ends, but still stepped up with big scores, as he so often did during the league.
A sixth-minute point epitomised that, and his two-pointer just before the teams headed for the changing rooms was a big difference.
His scores dried up after the interval, but handled a lot of ball as Mayo patiently waited before launching probing attacks.
