The picture has become a lot clearer for some of the brightest young Mayo football prospects as the structure for the inaugural LGFA All-Ireland Under-20 Championship has been revealed.
The maiden edition of the competition has brought a healthy degree of interest after it was announced last year.
The championship aims to bridge the gap between underage and Senior inter-county football across the country.
A Leinster Under-20 competition already existed, with Meath capturing the 2025 edition of the competition. Now, it's going nationwide.
The competition will be split into two parts at the start of the season. There will be a separate Ulster championship, comprising Cavan, Donegal, Down, Fermanagh, Monaghan, and Tyrone.
The other half will be a group stage with teams from Connacht, Leinster, and Munster.
Cork, Dublin, Galway, Mayo, and Meath will all play two home and away games each, with the top side advancing to the first-ever All-Ireland final against the Ulster Champions.
The dates for the competition are as follows.
Round One - Saturday, May 2
Round Two - Saturday, May 9
Round Three - Saturday, May 23
Round Four - Sunday, May 31/ Monday, June 1
Round Five - Saturday, June 27
All-Ireland Final - Saturday, July 11
