HOME is where the heart is and that old clíché will be borne out on New Year's Day when Vancouver Éire Óg come to Canon Gibbons Park in Claremorris for an exciting charity football match against the home side. The Canadian club will be led by former Claremorris attacker Mikey Higgins and Swinford native JP McLoughlin and will feature players from across Mayo and many corners of Ireland.

The big game will raise funds for Mayo Roscommon Hospice and promises to be a highly entertaining and enjoyable spectacle for the big crowd expected to attend.

Founded in 2018, Éire Óg has been hugely successful since then, providing a home-from-home for a stream of footballers from all corners of the country. Numerous others who played for the club in the last few years are traveling from across Mayo and many parts of Ireland to wear the jersey again, and we're inviting all former Éire Óg players to come along and join us on the day."

Mayo players who have lined out with the club over the years include; Mikey Higgins (Claremorris), JP McLoughlin (Swinford), Cian Ferriter (Hollymount Carramore), Padraic O'Haire (Westport), Brian Maloney (Hollymount Carramore), Ciaran Brogan (Hollymount Carramore), James Byrne (Castlebar Mitchels), Johnny Maughan (Castlebar Mitchels), Darragh McIntyre (Swinford), Paddy Costello (Belmullet), Sean Conlon (Castlebar), Sean Walsh (Kiltimagh), Cathal Carney (Ballyhaunis), John Cunnane (Ballyhaunis), Ed Ball (Louisburgh), Pierce O'Malley (Louisburgh), Ben Cox (Louisburgh) and Calum Kyne (Castlebar Mitchels) among others.
