As the Breaffy club had a fine season on the field of the play, there were five members acknowledged for the successful achievements this season.
It has been a year to remember for the Breaffy Rounders team as they claimed All Ireland titles in both Ladies and the mixed category. Things got even better over the weekend, when the West Mayo club have secured five All Star Awards.
Colm Jordan was named Men’s mixed player of the year while four females also joined him on stage. Katie Groonell (Back Catcher), Michelle Hopkins (Pitcher), Claire Burke (Right Outfield) and Paula Doherty (Third Base) were all acknowledged for the tremendous season on the field of play.
Among those who were also nominated for All Star awards were Margaret Fitzgibbon (First Base), Katie Kenny (Left Outfield) and Aileen Gavin (Centre Outfield), Colin Gannon (Pitcher), Jamie Murphy (Back Catcher), Patrick Heneghan (Third Base), Mark Jennings (Short Stop), and John Gibbons (Centre Outfield).
Michelle Hopkins, Katie Groonell and Grainne Gavin also made the shortlist for the female mixed player of the year while Colin Gannon was shortlisted for male mixed player of the year.
Breaffy Rounders were also delighted to announce that one of their own, Paula Doherty has officially declared her interest in becoming the next President of the Rounders association. Paula has a wealth of experience, dedication and passion for the sport as the sport continues to grow year on year.
