A stunning two-point free in injury time from Adam Kelly won the provincial title for St Jarlath's at the end of a thrilling decider in Bekan on Friday night.

The Ballyhaunis/Eastern Gaels combination were excellent in the first half and led by five at the break, 0-11 to 1-3, despite missing a huge amount of chances. Things changed after the break as the Galway boys found their rhythm and poured forward to balance the scores with a minute of normal time remaining.

However, the Mayo champions refused to fade away and pushed forward to earn two late, long-range frees. Kelly was off target with the first one, but made no mistake a minute later to unleash scenes of wild delight among their vocal followers in the ground.

A full match report will be carried in Tuesday's Mayo News.
