How did Pádraig O'Hora's boots end up in Ballycroy household?

The Mayo GAA Senior Football final replay between Ballina Stephenites and Westport was a historic occasion.

Ballina rose from the ashes, being ten points down with ten minutes to go, and scored the game winning point deep into injury time, thanks to a large degree to Evan Regan magic.

There are many questions still to be answered about Saturday's senior final replay but the mystery of Pádraig O'Hora's boots ended up in a Ballycroy household can be solved.

Long after Saturday's final had ended and the crowd had made their way home, the legendary Stephenites centre-half-back walked to the centre of MacHale Park, took in the scene and placed his boots on the pitch.

He turned away and headed back to the Moy to celebrate with his people.

Later, when I was leaving the press box, the boots were still there, so after a quick call to a Ballina contact I was instructed to retrieve the boots.

They will find a place in history by the Moy in future, but on Saturday night they resided by the river in Ballycroy.
