The Mayo Senior Championship final may have ended without a victory for Westport or Ballina Stephenites, but one Mayo man played a key part in helping a Dublin club secure Senior glory over the weekend.
On Saturday evening, in Parnell Park in Dublin, Ryan Baynes played a central role as Ballyboden Saint Enda's edged Na Fianna in a keenly contested decider.

Baynes, a native of Burrishoole, started the day on the bench for the side aiming to reclaim the Clerys Perpetual Cup for the first time since 2019.
However, when called on to enter the fray in the third minute, he slotted seamlessly into the defensive pack, aiming to keep the likes of Eoin Murchan and Conor McHugh quiet.
In the end, Saint Enda's were able to do just that, and recorded a 1-16 to 1-12 win, sparking wild scenes which will last a lifetime both in Ballyboden and on the shores of Clew Bay for Ryan's family.
After claiming their fifth crown in their history, Baynes and Ballyboden will enter the provincial series, where they will face Wexford champions Castletown Liam Mellows in the Leinster Championship quarter finals.
