Kilmeena's Conor Madden and his partner Christine Collins were both victorious in Vancouver senior football finals recently.
AS Kilmeena get ready for Sunday's county intermediate final, one of their former players has already tasted football glory this season.
Conor Madden who won an All-Ireland junior title with Kilmeena in Croke Park in 2023 moved to Vancouver soon after that victory and threw his lot in with the Fraser Valley Gaels club in the hugely competitive city championship.
The Kilmeena man has since become a driving force in the club and this season captained the Gaels to a memorable victory in the Vancouver senior final. The men in blue got the better of St Finnian's in a well-contested decider and Madden was a proud man when he raised the big cup into the sky.
His day got even better a little later when the Fraser Valley Gaels Ladies team won their final against a fine Van Isle team. Conor's partner Christine Collins from Cork played a major role in that victory to bring the curtain down on a very special day for the footballing couple.
