Moy Davitts produced a stunning second half performance as they overcame Ardnaree in impressive fashion

Moy Davitts impress as County Final awaits

Brian Heneghan and Moy Davitts are back in the intermediate final after defeating Ardnaree in Ballina.

Mayo Intermediate Championship Semi Final

Moy Davitts 1-20

Ardnaree 0-11

In Ballina

Paul Mc Garry’s Moy Davitts came from four down at the break to book their spot in the county final where Kilmeena now await.

The North Mayo men had started best with Cathal Noone causing problems for the Moy Davitts defence.

Rory Clarke’s side enjoyed a numerical advantage for ten minutes when Brian Reape was shown a black card for a cynical foul. Going in at the break it was Ardnaree who were much happier as they led 0-7 to 0-4.

Whatever Paul Mc Garry and the Moy Davitts management said at the changeover worked wonders as last year’s finalists came out all guns blazing. A goal from Reape in the opening minute followed by two-pointers from the boots of Ronan Clarke and the excellent Cian McHale put them in charge.

The impressive McHale tagged on further points as the men from Sean Duffy Park struggled in attack. Entering the final quarter, Moy Davitts pulled away with Clarke, Reape and McHale all catching the eye up front.

Ardnaree battled right up until the full time whistle sounded but ultimately, Moy Davitts were a step ahead and they ran out convincing winners on a day where it really was a ‘game of two halves.'

Moy Davitts will face Kilmeena Sunday in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park.

A full match report plus reaction will be carried in Tuesday’s edition of The Mayo News.
