AMY O'CONNOR V SAOIRSE LALLY
She's called 'Amy Goals' for a reason, you know.
If someone had told you before the start of the championship that a player would have scored 10-8 across three games, you'd have laughed them out of the room.
O'Connor was solid on day one, but her attacking comrades Katie Langan and Lara Sweeney took the plaudits goal-wise in the torrid weather against Burrishoole.
From there, though, she came good.
Five goals in one game is some tipping, but that is precisely what she did against Kilmovee, and followed it up 4-4 on the road in Hollymount.
Her bainisteoir, Stephen Sweeney, knew her value after she ran in 1-3 in the first half of the semi-final against Castlebar Mitchels, and made the sensible decision to hook one of his most prized assets at the changeover.
This forward is dangerous in the extreme, and has wreaked havoc, hail, rain, or shine on some of the best defenders in the land.
She'll have her work cut out for her against this absolute terrier of a defender, though.
When the going gets tough, and the best attackers in the game have come to call, managers at club and county have called on Saoirse Lally to do the dirty work, and time after time she has rolled up her sleeves and got to work.
No side has scored more than eight points against the Clew Bay women this season, and the 2021 All-Star nominee has been intrinsic to all things good about Pop Geraghty's girls defensively.
She was called upon in the League pairing between the same sides in August after Janette O'Malley was forced off through injury, but slotted in seamlessly and was excellent.
This is a prime example of unstoppable force against immovable object, and could be a battle for the ages.
