Mayo GAA have taken the decision to postpone all fixtures in the Senior, Intermediate, Junior, and Junior 'B' Championships due to Storm Amy.
Earlier today, The Mayo News reported that the County Board Executive were liaising over the capability of venues to host the ties in the wake of Status Yellow and Orange weather warnings from Met Éireann.
Now, in a statement released in recent moments, they have confirmed that all adult fixtures will be rescheduled for a later date.
“We have decided to cancel all our adult fixtures this weekend due to the adverse weather warnings in place," Mayo GAA chairman, Seamus Tuohy, stated.
"Player and supporter safety is of paramount importance to Mayo GAA, and following consultations with all the relevant authorities, we have decided to cancel all adult fixtures.
"We also consulted with the clubs hosting the Mayo GAA championship semi-finals this weekend, and they informed us their pitches were unplayable at present.”
The decision follows a raft of cancellations both inside and outside of the sporting sphere, with soccer ties and flights also feeling the effect of Storm Amy.
